Wedding program

Welcome evening
At our home in Skhirat, Morocco
In Morocco, Friday is traditionally couscous day. For this reason, we are spending the welcome evening in our garden with a
standing dinner and enjoying traditional couscous together.
The evening is intended to welcome all guests to Morocco
to be called and to arrive together.
For guests traveling with their families, children are very welcome this evening. We look forward to welcoming them to our garden as well.
Dress code: Casual Chic
Women have the option to borrow traditional Moroccan dresses (kaftans) for the welcome evening. The rental price is approximately 600 MAD per dress (around 50 CHF). A kaftan is a traditional Moroccan festive garment worn on special occasions, characterised by fine fabrics, detailed embroidery and an elegant silhouette.
We are currently clarifying whether we can also organise jabadour outfits for men and will update this information on the website. Male guests often wear a jabadour at Moroccan weddings, a traditional two-piece festive outfit.
No one is required to dress traditionally. This is an optional offer, and what matters most to us is that everyone feels comfortable and comes dressed in a way that feels right for them.

Henna Night
Rabat, Morocco
The Henna Evening is an important part of Moroccan weddings and traditionally takes place before the main wedding celebration. Originally, this evening is reserved for women. In our case, however, we warmly invite all guests to experience this special evening together with us.

Women will have the opportunity to have henna applied. The colour green symbolises life, hope and new beginnings, while red represents love, joy and strength. Music, rituals and festive attire make the henna evening a colourful and truly special experience.
At the beginning of the evening, you will be welcomed by the well-known Tea Man, who plays a special role at Moroccan celebrations. He is responsible for preparing and ceremonially serving traditional mint tea, a symbol of hospitality, respect and community.

The evening is accompanied by traditional musicians known as Dakka Marrakchia. A central element of the celebration is the Amaria, during which the couple is carried through the room in an elaborately decorated ceremonial seat. This ritual symbolises honour, appreciation and the special status of the couple and stands for protection, dignity and togetherness.

The Tifour, who carry the Amaria, are traditionally dressed in coordinated garments with embroidered vests displaying symbols of the Moroccan Kingdom. Their attire represents strength, responsibility and the collective protection of the couple, highlighting the ceremonial importance of this ritual.

The henna evening takes place in a traditional Moroccan indoor location. Out of respect for the venue and its rules, alcohol consumption is not officially permitted inside (as alcohol is traditionally not consumed in the Islamic cultural context). However, there is the possibility to consume alcohol discreetly, with the consent of the venue owners. We kindly ask you not to take or post photos or videos of alcohol, out of respect for the location, the hosts and the local culture.
Thank you very much for your understanding and your respectful conduct.

Wedding celebration
Rabat, Morocco
The wedding evening will take place in a private, spacious location surrounded by greenery, offering a peaceful setting with nature and warm lighting. We will begin the celebration with a traditional European ceremony held outdoors. Afterwards, we will celebrate under the open sky with music, good food and Moroccan traditions well into the night. On Sunday, we can raise our glasses without restraint.
A traditional Moroccan wedding celebration is a vibrant interplay of music, rituals, colours and community. Many of these elements symbolise happiness, protection and the shared beginning of a new chapter in life.
During the evening, the bride will be accompanied by a Negafa, a traditional wedding attendant responsible for the bride’s attire, jewellery and elegant appearance. She guides the bride through the various rituals and accompanies her throughout the celebration.
Women also play a special role by accompanying the evening with singing. The songs are often complemented by Zaghrouta – a rhythmic sound created by rapid tongue movements that expresses joy and excitement. This distinctive sound enhances the festive atmosphere and is a sign of support and togetherness. Feel free to practise 🙂
Music plays a central role throughout the evening. A Bola-Bola music group, presenting a traditional form of drumming and dance, will accompany the celebration with singing and rhythmic sounds, creating energy, movement and a lively atmosphere.
All of these traditions make a Moroccan wedding celebration an intense and sensorial experience, where music, movement and emotions take centre stage and the couple is carried by the presence of family and friends.
