Travel Routes & Travel Tips
Guests who wish to explore Morocco before or after the wedding celebrations will find inspiring travel route suggestions below.
Route 1 - Culture & Cities
Rabat → Fes → Marrakesch
Ideal for guests interested in Morocco’s history, medinas and architecture. This route can easily be combined with train travel and allows for flexible timing.
Route 2 - Desert & Nature
Rabat → (Fes) → Marrakech → Merzouga
Suitable for guests with more time. The region around Merzouga offers desert tours and overnight stays in the Sahara and can be well combined with a stay in Fes.
Route 3 - Atlantic & Relaxation
Rabat → Essaouira → Marrakesch
Perfect for combining city life with the sea. Essaouira offers a relaxed atmosphere by the Atlantic and works well as a calm stop before or after Marrakesh.
Route 4 - North & Mediterranean
Rabat → Chefcheouan → Al Hoceima → Tanger
This route is ideal for discovering the green north of Morocco. Chefchaouen impresses with its unique atmosphere, Al Hoceima with nature and coastline, and Tangier combines sea, culture and international flair.
In Fes, Sara’s mother Latifa runs Riad Said. If you are interested in staying there for a few nights before or after the wedding, please indicate this in your registration. We are happy to check whether we can plan some stays together, if desired, and can also offer a reduced room rate.

Getting Around
In Rabat, the taxi app InDrive is very popular and easy to use. Rides are usually affordable and transparent, making it ideal for short distances within the city. We recommend carrying some cash for payment.
Travelling by train in Morocco is also very convenient. If you are planning a journey, you can find all routes and schedules at www.oncf.ma. We generally recommend booking first-class tickets.
SIM-Card & Internet
We recommend purchasing an eSIM, for example via esim.sm. While slightly more expensive than a local SIM card, an eSIM can be installed at home in Switzerland and is particularly convenient.
Alternatively, you can purchase a local SIM card at the airport, for example from inwi or Maroc Telecom. Prices are affordable, and mobile internet works reliably in Rabat and the surrounding area.
Currency
The local currency is the Moroccan Dirham (MAD). As a rough guideline, 10 MAD correspond to approximately 0.90–1.00 CHF. Exchange rates may vary slightly. Cash is very practical for everyday use.
Restaurants
Rabat offers a diverse and varied culinary scene. Recommended restaurants in the city include:
Dar Naji – traditional Moroccan cuisine
Le Dhow – modern, directly by the river, ideal after a city tour
Le Safran – Moroccan & international cuisine
La Marsa – excellent fish restaurant in Salé
Matsuri – sushi restaurant with a modern atmosphere
Soy – Japanese cuisine, known for fresh and creative dishes

In the Skhirat and Haroura area, Les Trois Palmiers offers beautiful sea views, while La Felouk is known for its fine tapas. In the Hay Ryad district, especially along Avenue Attine, you will find a lively street with many restaurants and shops, also pleasant to visit in the evening. A similarly atmospheric area is the Corniche Bouregreg in the city centre.
Beauty & Styling
The JetSet beauty salon in Rabat is well known and highly recommended for hair, manicure and pedicure. Early appointments are advised. Many local hair salons also offer hair, hand and foot treatments at very reasonable prices.

Hammams
A hammam is a traditional oriental steam bath and one of the special experiences in Morocco. Recommended addresses in the Skhirat and Haroura area include Le Rivage Cleopatre and Joudy Beauty Spa. In Rabat itself, JetSet is also a good option. There are both traditional and more modern hammams, and many hotels offer hammam experiences directly on site.
Medical Care
Rabat offers good private medical care. Recommended facilities include:
Hôpital Universitaire International Cheikh Zaïd (private university hospital)
Polyclinique Internationale Riad Annakhil
